One of the most common procedures is removing a cavity from a tooth. Cavities are formed when the tooth experiences decay and need to be treated before they become severe. This decay creates a hole in the tooth that if left untreated can cause both pain as well as further dental complications. Once the cavity and decay have been removed, we fill the hole with a filling that recreates the missing part of the tooth!

Regular six-monthly dental check-ups are important to help spot cavities early and to help prevent them from forming in the first place. Increased sensitivity, persistent toothache or pain could also be indicators that you may need a filling.
Our most popular filling material among patients are tooth-coloured composite fillings. Composite fillings are designed to resemble a real tooth as closely as possible and will be matched to your natural tooth colour. They are made of a highly durable ceramic resin, with no metal involved and are bonded into the tooth to improve structural strength.

To ensure you are comfortable during the procedure we will gently numb the tooth before starting treatment. We will then prepare the tooth and remove any decay before placing our aesthetic composite restoration to restore the tooth. We will check your bite is perfect and polish the filling before we let you leave the surgery.
Composite fillings are set immediately by your Dentist, but we always advise waiting a few hours for any numbness to wear off before having something to eat.
